Management Team

 

Mark Thompson, CEO - Mark began working at MMR in 1994 as the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer, and then became the Chief Executive Officer in September 2008. Mark has worked in the healthcare industry for nearly 30 years, and has extensive experience in corporate financial practices. He has worked closely with the management team over the last year to develop a strategic plan that will establish company organizational goals, as well as develop employee action groups and improved communications going forward. Mark lives in Saginaw Township with his wife of 31 years and four children.

 

 

 

Mike Barrow, R.N., EMT-P, Vice-President, Operations - Mike began working at MMR in 1998. A licensed R.N./EMT-P, he has been working in the EMS industry for over 30 years. Mike was the 15th licensed Instructor/Coordinator in the state of Michigan in 1981. He is currently serving his second term on the Essexville City Council, as well as serving on the Planning Commission. Mike serves on the Nursing Advisory Board for Delta College.

 

 

 

Michelle McGill, CPA, Vice-President, Finance - Michelle joined the MMR team in the Spring of 2010. In addition to having a Bachelors Degree in Accounting, she brings to the company a Master of Science in Administration Degree with a Human Resources concentration. Michelle has over 17 years of experience in health care accounting and human resources management.  Michelle is responsible for Financial Services, Payroll, Accounts Receivable, Human Resources, Strategic Planning/Community Relations, IEMSS Consulting Services, and Mercy Sales and Service.

 

 

 

Matthew Holtcamp, EMT-P, Director of Operations, Crawford, Arenac and Iosco Counties - Matt has worked with MMR for the past 10 years. He started as an Emergency Medical Dispatcher, and studied Fire Science/EMS-Paramedic Training at Lake Superior State University. Matt is currently a Firefighter for Beaver Creek Township, and serves on the Local Emergency Planning Committee, Emergency Service Council, 911 Authority Board for both Arenac and Crawford Counties, and is a board member for the North Central, Arenac and Huron County Medical Control Boards.

 

 

 

Jason MacDonald, EMT-P, I/C, Director of Operations, Clare, Gratiot, Isabella and Shiawassee Counties - Jason began his training with MMR in 1995. Beginning as a Paramedic in Gratiot County, he has been with MMR for 13 years now. He was promoted to Field Supervisor in the West division in 1999 and became the Operations Manager for Shiawassee County in 2005. Jason then became the Director of Operations for West and Shiawassee in 2007. He has a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Davenport University and is currently pursuing his MBA at Davenport University. Jason is on the Clare, Gratiot, Isabella and Shiawassee County Medical Control Authority Boards and is a member of the Clare County 911 Advisory Board, as well as the Isabella County Local Planning Team.

 

 

 

John Kustuch, EMT-P, I/C, Director of Operations, Saginaw, Bay and Tuscola Counties - John began his EMS career in 1990 as an EMT/Dispatcher for Saginaw Mercy Ambulance. He has experience as a Paramedic, Instructor/Coordinator, Certified Emergency Medical Dispatcher, and  Firefighter II. He is a Firefighter for the City of Essexville, and serves as Vice-Chair of the City's Planning Commission. John is Chair of the SVMCA ALS Committee, is a member of the PSRO Board and sits on the Medical Control Board.  John is a graduate of the Fitch Associates Ambulance Service Manager program as well as the Dale Carnegie Leadership Team.

 

 

 

Jillian Westall, PHR, Director of Human Resources/HIPAA Security Officer - Jill has been in the HR field for the past 15 years. She comes to MMR from Gratiot Medical Center where she served as the Human Resources Manager. Jill has experience with human resources administration and has worked in various HR capacities including employment, recruitment, HRIS, labor relations, safety, education, compensation and benefit administration and total rewards.

 

 

 

Harold Jay Cooper, EMT-P, I/C - Director of Ancillary Services - Jay began his EMS career in 1980. He has taught CPR, EMT and Paramedic classes until he accepted the position of Director of Quality Assurance/Employee Training in 2000. Jay has overseen Risk Management and OSHA compliance, along with the clinical portion of the Paramedic program. He currently provides oversight for the IT department and coordinates disaster response and planning for MMR at the local, state and national level.

 

 

 

Steve Myers, EMT-P, I/C, Director of Patient Access - Steve began working at MMR 13 years ago when Clare EMS merged with MMR. He is a member of the Society of Michigan EMS Instructor Coordinators, National Association of EMS Physicians, and the Michigan Association of Emergency Medical Technicians. Steve has spoken at the Zoll Data Conference, as well as taught internationally. He is a board member of the Saginaw Business and Education Partnership Committee.

 

 

 

 

Lynn Schutter, Director of Community Relations & Strategic Planning - Lynn joined the MMR team in 2001. Lynn came to MMR from Covenant Healthcare where she was the Utilization Review Coordinator, Medical Staff Coordinator and Physician Services Coordinator. She currently oversees the marketing, advertising, and community and media relations functions. Lynn also serves the community by participating with many of the non-profit organizations in the community. She is a past president of Leadership Alumni Association of Saginaw County, a Diplomat for the Saginaw County Chamber of Commerce, and Executive Board member of Junior Achievement of Northeast Michigan.

 

 

 

Nancy Greif, EMT-P, EMD-Q, Accounts Receivable Manager - Nancy has worked with MMR for over 10 years. A graduate of Dale Carnegie, and a member of the Michigan Association of Ambulance Service Ambulance Leadership Program. Nancy is a board member of the Safety Committee for FlightCare at St. Mary’s of Michigan and LifeNet of Michigan in Saginaw and Lansing. She has completed NAACS certification for Flight Communication and has also gained certification for Communication Center Management.

 

 

 

 

Ken White, EMT-P, I/C, Education Manager - Ken has been providing Emergency Medical Services for the past 24 years. With MMR since 1996, Ken is certified with the American Heart Association, a Certified Instructor in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, PEPP, PHTLS, GEMS, AMLS, and ASLS. He is an active member of the Society of Michigan EMS Instructor Coordinators and Past President of the Clare Lions Club.

 

 

 

 

Nick Bernelis, EMT-P, Operations Manager, Iosco County - Nick has been a paramedic for the past 16 years, working for MMR 15 of those years. During that time, he has also worked for St. Mary’s Flight Care. Nick is also the Operations Manager for Iosco County EMS in East Tawas. He is a PEPP Instructor and has completed the Ambulance Service Management Course.

 

 

 

 

Phil Petzold, EMT-P, Operations Manager, Tuscola County - Phil has been working in the EMS industry for the past 27 years. In addition to his Paramedic training, Phil was also a flight medic for several years and a Firefighter II for the Millington/Arbela Fire Department. He currently serves on the Saginaw Valley Medical Control Authority Board, Tuscola County TAC Board, Sanilac Medical Control Advisory Committee, SVMCA Communications Committee, VAAS Board of Directors and the Cass City Ambulance Board of Directors.

 

 

 

Brett Hansen, EMT-P, Operations Manager, West Brett has been in the EMS industry since 1990 and started with MMR in 1996, Brett was promoted to Field Supervisor in the West division in 2000. Brett is a member of the Society of Michigan EMS instructor coordinators and Michigan Association of Emergency Medical Technicians, and also a member of the Clare County 911 tech board. Brett is a graduate of the Fitch and Associates Ambulance Service Manager program as well as the Dale Carnegie program.

 

 

 

 

Joe Meyer, EMT-P, Operations Manager, Saginaw County - Joe started with MMR as a paid volunteer in Cass City in 1996. He became a Paramedic in 1997, and then began his EMS career in Saginaw County. Joe has been a supervisor since 2006, and currently represents MMR at the Saginaw and Bay County Fire Chiefs Association, as well as the Bay County Firefighters Association. He has also assisted the MMR Education Department, teaching CPR, ACLS and PHTLS courses over the years. Joe is currently pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, and in his spare time enjoys spending time with his family.

 

 

 

Steve Spellerberg, Fleet Services Manager Steve is responsible for supervising the daily operations of the Fleet Services Department; and ensuring that preventative maintenance intervals are adhered to on all MMR vehicles. Steve started at MMR as a mechanic in 1994 and was promoted to Supervisor in 1998.

 

 

 

 

Robin Heideman, Financial Reporting Manager - Robin was first employed by MMR as a Financial Analyst in 2006. She assumed the financial reporting position in May 2010. Her role involves the oversight and preparation of monthly financial statements, management of the financial reporting requirements including the coordination of internal and external audits and preparation of all tax reporting requirements for both MMR and Alliance Mobile Health. Robin received her Bachelors in Business Administration from Saginaw Valley State University in 1998.

 

 

 

Bill Dean, Financial Planning Manager - Bill has been in the Finance Department of MMR since 2004. He is responsible for working with all areas of the organization to understand costs, determine capital needs and educate the organization on financial management activities. Bill received a Bachelors in Business Administration from Saginaw Valley State University and is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association.

 

 

 

 

Michael Rant, RHIA, Manager of Quality, Risk and Corporate Compliance - Michael has been with MMR since 2004. He started as a Coding Analyst and then became the Systems Analyst assisting with the implementation of the new Zoll Dispatch and Billing System. In 2010, he was then promoted to Quality Analyst. Michael received a Bachelors Degree in Health Information Management an is active with the American and Michigan Health Information Management Associations. He has been a speaker and served on the Board of Directors for MHIMA.
