How much is tuition for the EMT course cost?
Tuition for the EMT Course is $1400.00

How much are books?
Books for the EMT course are $390.00

Are there any tech fees for the EMT course?
Yes, tech fees for the EMT course are approximately $79.00

Does MMR accept federal financial aid?
No, financial aid can be used if you are attending our training programs through Delta College.

Are payment plans available?

Yes.  A $500.00 deposit to reserve your spot in the class. The remaining tuition cost will be due 30 days after the start of the program.

Are there other funding sources accepted by MMR?
Your local MI WORKS! office has several funding programs you may qualify for. Contact your local MI WORKS! office directly for details.

Does MMR accept the GI Bill funding?
Not at this time but we are working towards it.

Do you offer paid EMT training?

No, we have found our students do best when participating as students and not paid employees.  Once you get started, the 16-week course will pass by and you can apply for a paid position with our organization.

How long is the EMT course?
The traditional EMT course is one semester or 16 weeks long.  MMR follows the academic calendar of Delta College.

How many days a week will I have class?
Generally, two-three days a week for five hours. There are some Saturdays required for specialized training events.

Do I need internet access?
Yes, you will need internet access because most of the course work is online . It is a good idea to have a plan as well as a backup plan in case your first source of internet access becomes unavailable.

How old must I be to take the EMT course?
You must be 18 years of age before the State of Michigan will issue an EMT license.  The National Registry will allow you take the exam at the age of 17.

What are the requirements to take the EMT course?
You must be 18, have a good driving record, no felony convictions, successfully pass keys testing at the 10th grade level, and have a high school diploma or GED.

Is there a proficiency test I must pass before taking the EMT course?
Yes, MMR requires proficiency in Math and Reading.  These are evaluated prior to the beginning of the program.  There is a $5 fee for the testing.

Do I have to have a driver’s license?
Yes, you must have a good driving record for MMR to be able to insure you as a driver of our vehicles.

Do I have to pass a background check?
Yes, personnel in the healthcare field must pass a criminal background check and drug screening.  Those are conducted prior to the program and the cost is $83.00.

What is the policy on absences or tardiness to class?
It is the expectation that students will attend and be on time for every class. Some allowances are made for illness. Excessive absences may cause removal from the program.

What grade point average must I carry to pass the class?
You must carry an 80% average throughout the EMT and Paramedic courses.

Is there a final exam?
Yes. The Final Exam evaluates your comprehension of knowledge learned in the program.  You must achieve 80% or higher on the Final Exam to complete the program and meet the requirements of the course.  Upon course completion of the EMT program, you are eligible to take the NREMT Exam. Once you have passed the NREMT Exam, you can apply for an EMT license through the State of Michigan.

What do I have to do to obtain my EMT license?
Successfully pass the NREMT exam and submit a license application to the State of Michigan.  The license is $40 and must be renewed every three years.

Does MMR Offer Job Shadow/Ride-Along Opportunities? 

If you are interested in learning more about EMS careers we would be happy to set up a tour of our facility. On your tour we can show you our state-of-the-art medical dispatch center, the inside of an ambulance, and give you a chance to ask an MMR staff member all of your questions. After that, if you are still interested in doing a ride-along we can take the next steps to set up an opportunity. Blood-borne pathogen training is a requirement to do a ride-along and you must be at least 18 years of age.

How much is tuition for the Paramedic course?
Tuition for the paramedic course is $6000.00. If you work for MMR as an EMT you can take the paramedic course for only the cost of books and tech fees.

How much do books cost for the Paramedic course?
Books for the paramedic course are approximately $850.00

Is there a tech fee for the Paramedic course?
Yes, tech fees for the paramedic course are $182.50.

Does MMR offer payment plans for the Paramedic course?
Yes, two payment options are available. Option 1: Deposit of $1,200 at time of registration. Balance of $4,800 paid in four even installments at the start of each Term. Option 2: $6,000 payment in full.

What are the pre-requisites for the Paramedic course?
You must have your EMT-B license, pass an asset test, drug screen and criminal background check ($88 fee for testing and background checks) You must also have successfully passed an Anatomy and Physiology course – either a college level course or an online course provided through MMR. Contact our Education Department for details on the online course.

How long is the Paramedic course?
The paramedic course is approximately 14 months. Nine months of classroom, and online and practical training followed by an internship working as a lead paramedic (with oversight) on the ambulance.

How many days a week will I have Paramedic class?
Two days a week during the first semester: one full day of lecture and one-half day of practical lab for three semesters. Clinical hours begin in the second semester which adds another day to the weekly schedule. Clinical hours include patient contact in the ambulance, emergency rooms and operating rooms.
