MMR and MI Works! offering EMT Academy Training Program
MMR and Great Lakes Bay MI Works! are collaborating again this year to host another EMT Academy style training program. Last year’s inaugural program was a success and the grant application for Skilled Trades Training Funds through the State of Michigan has been submitted to run the program again. Grants will be awarded some time in mid-late November. In preparation the EMT Academy, MMR and MI Works! are hosting a series of informational session to role out the program contents, requirements for admission and expectations for trainees. In this unique collaboration, trainees will actually be employed by MMR as “probationary EMTs” and will be paid at $9.00/hr to take an accelerated EMT Academy style program, five days a week, eight hours a day for seven weeks. This year we are hoping to have two academies: January start and March start.
It is the expectation that students in the program will move on to the next available Paramedic program as this is the goal of this collaboration. The paramedic training course will be paid for by MMR for the EMT students who become licensed and work for MMR. This is an incredible opportunity to have a long term career in as little as 18 months – with no student debt!
Interested individuals should contact their local MI Works! office as soon as possible and attend one of the following information sessions held at MMR:
