Las Vegas Tragedy – Local first responders prepare for the unthinkable
The day after the Las Vegas tragedy, ABC12’s Ann Pierret sat down with MMR’s Director of Operations Jason MacDonald to discuss how our local first responders train and prepare should the unthinkable happen in here in mid-Michigan. MMR’s EMT’s and Paramedics train in the NIMS or National Incident Management System for disaster or mass casualty incidents. Organization and communication are key to responding to the public need and getting to victims to definitive care. MMR trains alongside local police, fire, EMS, hospitals and other agencies involved in public safety and healthcare routinely. Education and training exercises are always evolving. Every incident is reviewed and analysed to gather best practices and lessons learned. This information is shared across that nation so that first responders and communities can be educated, trained and prepared as much as possible.
